ROOT-CAUSE NARROWED + INSTRUMENTED: Friday theory falsified — hunter never died (1,329 log lines after 10:47); lanes ran and returned open=3 every tick incl 15:15:03 but closed nothing with zero log lines. Last inch unprovable post-hoc; shipped lanes_heartbeat.json (per-stage stamps + manage_exits due/closed/kept/last_err accounting) + stderr scream if the lanes logger itself dies. Next occurrence self-diagnoses. 45 tests green.
